Can i partially dye my hair with full on color?

i usually dye the bottom layer of my hair red with loreal color ray brush-on highlights. but they've stopped selling it. so i was wondering if i can dye just PART of my hair with the stuff meant for your WHOLE head. is it possible? and if it is, is it super complicated?

Sure you can. The stuff that is made for your whole head is esentailly the same thing as the highlight stuff. Just, different packaging, and it happens to come with a brush. And no, as long as you keep the hair that isn't being dyed out of the way, then it should not be very complicated. Make sure that the dye doesnt get onto your other hair by wrapping it in foil while the color sets.

But by what I think you mean, yes you can dye part of your hair w/ color meant for all over all you have to do is part your hair out of the way and only dye the part that you want to dye. yes, sure, why not? just take a brush and brush it thru or saturate the hairs/sections of hair you want colored.

Its pretty difficult to do by yourself but is possible.

Basically what you need is a "streaking cap" which is like a fitted plastic shower cap with holes in it that you pull bits of hair through with a tiny hook and then dye the bits that you have pulled through.

I will warn you... it can be quite painful with someone jabbing the hook thing into your head all the time but the result is usually good.
