Hair Straightening Help?

I have really thick hair and my layers start above my ear, so it looks really bad when i dont straighten it. But when i do straighten it, it seems like all these little hairs just stick straight out on all the layers, and i look like a porcupine! I have used countless hair straightening products, including shampoos and conditioners. I cant blow dry my hair, because it seems like each hair inflates when i do, and it is really hard to straighten, or even put into a ponytail. I use a Hot Tools Ceramic Straightener, and i dont know what the problem is. It didnt use to be this hard to manage. Help!

that used to happen to me! and it sounds like we kind of have the same cut.so some things i changed were to:

*make sure your straightner is really hot before you begin straightening

*keep your head straight while you straighten, and kind of bring the straightner in towards your head .

*once you done straightening if theres still hair sticking up, put some straightening serum or smoothing milk on your hair, and that should make your hair not stick out as much!

*oh, and you could also try spraying hairspray on a toothbrush, and brushing down the little flyaways!

Garnier Fructis smoothing milk works good to keep the hair down

try a wet to dry straigtener! it's not a good for your hair but my friend has really frizzy hair and she uses it. it works really well! if strand of hair are flying everywhere get a frizz cream. =]

try using a straightning balm on your wet hair then blow dry then when your hair is damp run some hair serum through the length of your hair and continue to blow dry when complete spritz with straightning mist for heat defence and then straighten after all that top off with a bit more serum i do this all the time because i have your problem and it will work

ever tried going to salon to straighten ur hair? using Japanese hair straightening, also known as rebonding process?

it really smoothen out the hair and make it straight, permanently. tested n proven. the link below might help to give u more info

Flat Iron Straightening will dry out ur hair in the long run and make it even more "fluffy". its better that u condition ur hair enough to make it softer.
