How long does it take for semi-permanent hair dye to wash out?

My hair is naturally dark brown, but I had it dyed black at a hair salon at the end of December 2006; the dye is not permanent. Six months down the line, a great deal of my natural colour has come through, but there are still black patches, especially in the under layers of my hair. How long will it all take to finally go away? Is there ANY way I can speed up the process of getting rid of the last of the black dye?

Your hair could have been quite porus and captured the colour more than somneone else's hair. It will eventually fade out, but it's bestif you go back to a salon and just get a semi-permanant in a slade close to your own, but alittle darker, just so the darker black blothces aren't as obvious.

you could always dye it back with another semi perminant back to your natural colour....it is supposed to wash out after about 6 weeks? i wouldnt have your hair stripped as it can damage it

dont use color preserving shampoos (if you are using them), dye your hair back to dark brown..??, wash more often i guess (shampoo hair twice)

There are certain hair shampoo's that are better at getting dye out of your hair.........Vosene is defiantely good ( I know it stinks, but you want the colour out right? ) and head and shoulders is quite good. Don't get your hair stripped as it really wqeakens the hair.

it should wash out after about 20 washes or so, go back to the salon and check the stuff they used. you can ask them to strip it for you

well it will last up to 8 weeks depending on how porous and what condition your was in when it was coloured, regular shampoo's will help and you will need a very good conditioner
