I work in a salon and I charge double to fix home mistakes. Cutting hair is done by understanding the geometry and angles of projection from the head. A good hair cut cannot be performed without proper theory.

well it is simple in process. you take your hair and then you pull some up and cut it shorter than the bottom then you drop that layer and do another section on top of that one shorter than the other so on and so on but i am not a hair professional and i dont think you are either and this is a rather skilled thing to try to do and rather easy to mess up so i would recommend going to a hair professional and let them do it and then maybe when you watch them do it if you feel comfortable do it next time your self. but i would go and let them do it.

pull it into a ponytail top and center of your head, all of your hair. bend over so your hair is hanging down and snip off the ends straight across...you can use another ponytail holder to mark where you want it cut at. after you cut the end of the ponytail off, take you hair down and voila it is layered!
